Protein Bar Contains Twenty-Five Crickets…Yes, Bugs! This Bar Has Everyone Chirping!

I just read a story on Business Insider saying that EXO, a new company in the protein bar business is using cricket flour as the source of protein in their energy bars.
I visited the EXO website and here is what it says:
“Motivated by the nutritional and environmental benefits of eating insects and with a mission to normalize the practice, we (Greg and Gabi) launched Exo in 2013 after graduating from Brown University. Exo makes protein bars with cricket flour (slow roasted and milled crickets). Through combining cricket flour with organic and all-natural ingredients such as nut butters and dried fruits, we have created a range of bars that are delicious and exceedingly healthy.
Insects are exceptionally nutritious. They are high in protein and low in fats and carbohydrates. They are a complete protein, containing all the essential amino acids, and are also high in micronutrients such as iron, calcium and B-vitamins. Crickets, for example, contain more iron than beef.”

Personally, I could NOT think of anything worse than eating bugs. I am scared of bugs. The thought of crunching a cricket is just not music to my ears!
